Voters on Nov. 7 approved propositions A, B and C, covering new schools, renovations, technology, physical education classrooms and gyms, among other projects.
Breaking it down
The first projects will see shovels in the ground in March, Foster said. Here is the initial list of bond project plans for 2024 presented by Foster at the meeting:
New buildings:
- March: new elementary school in The Woodlands High school feeder on Old Conroe Road
- March: new elementary/intermediate feeder for Caney Creek and Oak Ridge high school feeders in the Evergreen area
- Summer: new seventh, eighth and ninth grade adjacent to Grand Oaks High School
- December: new Conroe-area high school on Loop 336 at Excellence Avenue
- December: new Caney Creek ninth grade on FM 1485 at Hwy. 242
- December: new Conroe-area junior high on FM 1314 south of Loop 336
- Spring/summer: Hailey and Buckalew elementary schools
- Spring/summer: Ford and Creighton elementary schools
- Spring/summer: Oak Ridge High School fine arts emphasis
- Summer: The Woodlands High School
- Summer: Oak Ridge High School ninth grade
- Summer: Knox Junior High School renovation
- Summer: Lamar, Armstrong, Austin, Birnham Woods, Broadway, Deretchin, Oak Ridge, Kaufman, Milam, Houston, Runyan, Snyder and Tough elementary schools, and Collins Intermediate
- Summer: ag barns on Budde and Otwell, and new Conroe-area facility
Foster said all of the projects will be complete by August 2028 for the 2028-29 school year.
"We're trying to get our work out on the street as early as possible to make good use of the market where it is currently," he said.
The board was scheduled to meet again at in a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 12.
Agenda items include assigning architects for preconstruction and design services for multiple projects.
