Conroe ISD officials announced in a Dec. 9 news release plans to form a bond planning committee in anticipation of a bond referendum on Nov. 7, 2023. According to the district, projected population growth indicates CISD could approach or exceed 100,000 students within the next 10 years following a 2022 demographic study from Population and Survey Analysts.

According to CISD, the district's current enrollment is about 72,000 students across 67 campuses. It is also one of the fastest-growing districts in the state—and the ninth largest district in Texas—with an enrollment of more than 3,000 additional students each year. During the previous decade, enrollment increased about 1,500 students annually, according to CISD.

A bond planning committee will begin to meet in February in anticipation of a bond to help accommodate future growth, involving the participation of students, parents, business owners, community members as well as CISD employees, according to the release. Individuals interested in participating can fill out an interest form on the CISD website. Selected members will be notified in late January, according to CISD.
