The City of Shenandoah announced it closed its municipal building. Only essential staff will remain.

Heavy rainfall due to Tropical Storm Imelda has led to multiple closings from area facilities around The Woodlands.

According to The Woodlands Township, the area has received more than 13 inches of rain as of 6 a.m. on Sept. 19. Due to this, both Conroe ISD and Lone Star College-Montgomery have closed for the day.

"The Woodlands Township through our Fire Department is closely monitoring the situation," Township Chair Gordy Bunch said in a statement. "We will be issuing updates throughout the day."

CISD Director of Communications Sarah Blakelock said all after-school activities planned for the district have been cancelled as well.

According to a press release from Kacee Kirschvink, Entergy senior communications specialist, there were 37,000 customers without power across Jefferson, Orange, Galveston, Liberty, Chambers and Montgomery counties. A full outage map can be seen here.
