The Woodlands-based development company Howard Hughes announced the purchase of 10101 Woodloch Forest Drive for $16.3 million in a May 19 news release, which will add additional leasable office space in The Woodlands area.

The details

According to the release, the existing office building will be rebranded as 7 Waterway and will create 200,000 square feet of additional office space in The Woodlands.

"The unoccupied building provides Howard Hughes with the immediate ability to offer in-demand Class A office space in the region’s highest-performing office submarket," the release stated.

The building was originally built in 2009 and is set on a 1.3-acre tract of land which includes a 700-car capacity parking garage, according to a news release.

Quote of note

“When this property became available, we recognized the immediate value it could add to our portfolio of world-class commercial properties in The Woodlands,” said Alex Hancock, senior vice president of national sales and leasing at Howard Hughes. “Given the influx of relocations to Texas, the growth of the Houston region, and the increased demand for premier office space in highly amenitized, walkable areas, this acquisition provides us the opportunity to meet the real estate needs of both current and future tenants of our community.”
