The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership announced a groundbreaking ceremony took place Dec. 13 for biopharmaceutical company Nurix Therapeutics at 8800 Technology Forest Place, The Woodlands. Currently headquartered in San Francisco, the company specializes in small molecule therapies, according to the EDP. According to information from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Nurix began a $9 million renovation/alteration project at the site slated for October 2023 completion. The site was previously occupied by Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, which sold the property in late 2020, Community Impact previously reported.
“There will be nothing like this in Houston, a one-of-a-kind safe and cost-effective campus,” said Joel Marcus, executive chairman and founder of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., which is developing the site.
“We choose The Woodlands to redevelop and develop a one-of-a-kind Alexandria-branded, mission-critical multitenant collaborative campus which will bring to the greater Houston market for the first time a highly cost-effective and safe work-play-live environment for life science and other advanced technology entities,” Marcus said in a statement. “We have more than 1000-plus client tenants, some of whom want to move operations to our unique campus.”
