Fireworks season is in full swing in Montgomery County ahead of the July 4 holiday.

The following are a few tips from the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office to prepare for fireworks season:

• Do not allow children to buy fireworks without adult supervision, and do not allow children to play with or ignite fireworks.

• Do not try to re-light fireworks that have not fully functioned.

• Do not carry fireworks in your pocket.

• Never throw fireworks at another person, car or animal.

• Be considerate of neighbors, and always read and follow label directions and warnings.

Where can I shoot fireworks in Montgomery County?

Fireworks are prohibited at all times within The Woodlands Township, city of Conroe and the boundaries of most municipalities in Montgomery County. However, residents who live in unincorporated areas of the county are permitted to use fireworks with some exceptions. Individuals may not use fireworks within 600 feet of a church, hospital, licensed child care center, a public or private primary or secondary school, or an institution of higher education without permission in writing from the organization, according to state code.

When can I buy fireworks in Montgomery County?

Fireworks can be purchased from June 24 through July 4 in Texas and from Dec. 20 through Jan. 1.
