The San Jacinto River Authority is celebrating 50 years of service in The Woodlands Division, according to a July 9 news release. The entity oversees areas such as the Bear Branch Dam and the watershed in The Woodlands.

The details

The Woodlands Division of the SJRA operates over 121 miles of water distribution pipelines throughout The Woodlands alongside three wastewater treatment facilities. The Woodlands division also oversees:
  • five groundwater plants
  • 37 water wells
  • six elevated storage tanks
  • nine ground storage tanks
The Woodlands division also acts as a wholesale provider of groundwater and treated surface water to local municipal utility districts in The Woodlands.

"Behind every successful system is a team of professionals," SJRA officials said in the release. "Many SJRA employees have more than 30 years of service, and their expertise ensures that residents continue to receive 'The Best Water in Texas. '"
