General assignments reporter

Shaheryar is a general assignments reporter at Community Impact, covering New Braunfels. He earned his degree from the University of Houston-Downtown in the spring of 2023 and began interning with CI the following summer. After interning, he joined full time covering real estate and development news in Houston. Prior to CI, he actively contributed to UHD’s student publication, The Dateline, and was part of the college’s radio station, UHD iRadio.

Features Reporter

Jovanna joined Community Impact as a reporter in July 2023. As a features reporter, she covers the North Houston area, including Cy-Fair, Tomball, The Woodlands, Conroe, Spring-Klein and the Lake Houston area. She graduated from Sam Houston State University in December 2021 where she majored in mass communication with a focus in multiplatform journalism and a minor in creative writing, and served as a writer for the campus newspaper, The Houstonian. When she is not writing, Jovanna enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and fitness.

Government Reporter

Jessica joined Community Impact in 2022 as a reporter covering The Woodlands greater area. She now covers countywide government issues for Montgomery County as well as the cities of Humble, Oak Ridge North and Shenandoah, and The Woodlands Township. A graduate of Blinn College, she has previously worked for two local papers covering city and county government. When not in a meeting, Jessica can be found crafting and caring for her cat, Chubbers.

Senior Editor

A resident of the Houston area since 2011, Vanessa began working in community journalism in her home state of New Jersey after receiving an English degree from Drew University. She joined Community Impact in 2016 as a reporter for the Spring-Klein edition and became editor of that paper in March 2017 and editor of The Woodlands edition in January 2019. She received a master's degree in English in 2024.
