The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion announced Jan. 3 it has named Jeff Young as its new chief operating officer.

Most recently serving as the vice president of operations for the outdoor entertainment venue, Young will oversee the daily operations of the organization, according to the release.

How we got here

Young has been with The Pavilion since it opened in 1990, according to the news release. His previous positions include:
  • Assistant facility manager
  • Operations manager
  • Vice president of operations
Young has been involved in expansions and renovations at the venue as it has expanded from 10,000 to 16,000 seats over the years, according to the release.

He has resided in The Woodlands since 1985, graduated from Texas A&M University, and currently resides in the township with his wife, Melissa, and his sons, Liam and Luke, according to the release.

What they're saying

“Jeff’s commitment and loyalty to the organization is unmatched,” said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion. “We all look forward to him continuing to grow the success of the venue.”

“I am excited to work together with our incredible staff to continue to propel The Pavilion forward,” Young said. “The Pavilion is a world-class venue and I am excited to capitalize on this new position to enhance The Pavilion’s mission of making the arts accessible to all in our community and beyond.”

One more thing

The Pavilion will see the departure of its president and CEO, Jerry MacDonald, in March, a position for which a national search is currently underway, Pavilion officials said.

In addition to hiring Young, The Pavilion announced Matt Meyer has been promoted from facilities manager to director of operations to oversee facility and production operations.

The Pavilion is closed for the season, with concerts scheduled to start back up in April.
