The inaugural Woodlands Jazz Festival will take place Nov. 14 in Town Green Park in The Woodlands.

Put on by Meegz Media Group, the festival will feature a variety of musical acts from noon to 10 p.m. Meegz Media Group producer Mike Migl said the festival will showcase both modern and historical jazz performances, along with new age and folk music.

“It’s going to be more than just a festival, it’s going to be an experience,” Migl said. “We liked the park in The Woodlands and wanted to bring something different to The Woodlands.”

Migl said aside from musical acts, the festival will also have character artists on site, balloon making and face painting and a human-sized chess board. General admission tickets can be purchased on the festival’s website, www.thewoodlandsjazzfest.com, for $20 and will be $30 the day of the festival.

Musical acts for the festival will perform on two stages and will include local acts, such as The Woodlands Academy of Music, and other acts, such as Louis Armstrong Society Jazz Band, Copa Kings and Kendrick Scott.

Migl said food and drinks will be served at the festival and that guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the musical performances. Migl said he hopes the festival will be a success and become more than just an annual event.

“We wanted to embrace the community in The Woodlands, and my team and I have 12 years of experience throwing various events,” Migl said. “We want this festival to be much more than a yearly event for years to come.”
