What’s happening?
At a June 16 meeting, Missouri City City Council approved the submission of an application for the Texas Department of Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program grant to fund a $5 million shared-use pedestrian path along the Knight Road from McKeever Road to Hurricane Lane.
If awarded, the grant will provide $4 million of the project's total cost with the city responsible for a 20% match, or $1 million, Assistant City Manager Shashi Kumar said. The city has reached out to Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County to see if funding is available to assist in the local match.

Missouri City will be notified of their application progress in approximately three months, Kumar said.
The project is anticipated to take two years to construct, although an exact timeline has not been established.
