The city of Sugar Land is in the beginning phases of a project to widen portions of University Boulevard.

Design on the $1.7 million project, which will widen University from four to six lanes from Telfair Avenue to just south of Lexington Boulevard, is anticipated to begin in March, according to the city.

Construction is anticipated to take place in fiscal year 2022-23.

The project is part of the city's master thoroughfare plan to enhance mobility and safety throughout Sugar Land.
