1. Ludwig Lane widening: Ludwig Lane will be widened from Dulles Avenue to Brand Lane, said Stacy Slawinski, Fort Bend County assistant engineer. The project will create a three-lane roadway with one lane in each direction and a center turn lane. The street will be upgraded from asphalt to concrete with underground stormwater drainage.

2. Sugarland-Howell Road widening: Sugarland-Howell Road is being widened from a two-lane asphalt road to a three-lane concrete road with storm drainage, Slawinski said. Construction begins at Bissonnet Street and extends to Old Richmond Road. The project will also feature underground stormwater drainage and a sidewalk for pedestrians. The county has partnered with a nearby municipal utility district to extend hike and bike trails under the roadway, he said. The road is slated to open in early November.

3. West Airport Boulevard repairs: Single-lane closures will take place on West Airport Boulevard’s eastbound side between Industrial Boulevard and Dairy Ashford Road in Sugar Land from Oct. 22 through January as street roadway repairs take place, according to Sugar Land city officials. The project is part of the city’s ongoing street rehabilitation program.

4. Independence Boulevard Segment 1/Staffordshire Road reconstruction: This project in Missouri City will reconstruct the existing two-lane concrete roadway into a four-lane concrete divided street. Court Road will remain closed for the remainder of 2018 from Moore Road to Staffordshire Road as reconstruction work continues.
Timeline: August 2018-November 2019
Cost: $7.5 million

5. Hwy. 6 widening: Work on this Sugar Land project has been pushed to begin after Jan. 1 and will widen Hwy. 6 from six to eight lanes from Brooks Street to Lexington Boulevard. The project will alleviate traffic traveling through Sugar Land’s busiest intersection at Hwy. 6 and Hwy. 59 and is slated to take approximately 15 months to complete.
Timeline: September 2018-December 2019
Cost: $13 million
