Houston Astros' All-Star outfielder Yordan Alvarez and pitcher José Urquidy are set to join the Sugar Land Space Cowboys on upcoming rehab assignments.

The details

Both players' rehabilitation assignments will begin July 14, kicking off with Sugar Land's three-game series against the El Paso Chihuahuas that day, according to a Sugar Land Space Cowboys news release.

Alvarez, a back-to-back MLB All-Star these past two years, is recovering from a right oblique injury he sustained June 8 during a game in Toronto.

Although this will be Alvarez's first Major League rehab assignment with Sugar Land, the 26-year-old previously played with the Round Rock Express, the Astros' former Triple-A affiliate, in 2019, according to the release.

Meanwhile, Urquidy is also on the path to recovery after a right shoulder injury that sidelined him since April 30.

Both player assignments are "subject to change without notice,” according to the release.

When to catch the stars in Sugar Land

The Space Cowboys and Houston Astros stars will start a nine-game home run July 14 with the first game of a three-game series against the El Paso Chihuahuas.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., two hours before the 7:05 p.m. first pitch July 14 for fan's first chance to catch Alvarez and Urquidy at their 2023 Space Cowboys assignments.
