The South Post Oak Sportsplex, a $6 million project aimed at providing space for youth sports in the Fort Bend-Houston Super Neighborhood, will soon have its grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The sports facility will have a grand opening ceremony May 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the facility at 5685 Hobby Road, Houston. The facility offers two 100-yard football fields with bleachers on both sides for spectators and families, a full-size press box, men’s and women’s restrooms, a concession stand, and four meeting rooms for teams to rest between games, according to a May 17 news release.

According to the news release, more improvements and renovations are planned for the area in the near future with updates to the South Post Oak baseball fields.

“With two football fields, three baseball fields and a softball field, many programs for youth and adults will be available to revitalize sports and recreation in the community,” said Grady Prestage, Fort Bend County Precinct 2 commissioner, in the news release. “This complex will bring events, vendors and community partners to the east end of Fort Bend County.” 281-835-9419
