Missouri City’s City Centre dining is set to see expanded capacity by the end of 2025.

The gist

At a Dec. 5 special meeting, Missouri City City Council approved a $249,720 design contract with Huitt-Zollars Inc. for the dining room and bar remodel at City Centre at Quail Valley, a multipurpose building at 2880 La Quinta Drive, Missouri City.

This comes after council decided at the Oct. 21 meeting to move forward with a $1.4 million scope for the project.

The Quail Valley center—which offers event space and dining services—has been closed since July due to damages from Hurricane Beryl.

The details

The project aims to incorporate findings from a 2020 National Golf Foundation study, which showed 43% of the center’s revenue was derived from clubhouse activities, with food, beverages and banquets providing the most opportunity for revenue growth, Parks and Recreation Director Donnie Hayes said. The project will primarily focus on renovations to the dining and bar space, according to agenda documents.

Project elements include:
  • Designing a new bar, dining, lounge and reception space
  • Adding toilets in both the men and women’s restrooms
The cost

The design cost will be covered by the city’s general funds, although City Manager Angel Jones said the city could receive reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

What else?

City staff also presented a draft three-year plan for the Quail Valley Golf Course and City Centre, which includes:
  • Price adjustments to align with market rates and operational costs
  • Rebranding including a name change to Missouri City Golf and Events at Quail Valley
  • Completion of an event space feasibility study
  • Addition of more dining options
Going forward

A groundbreaking date was not available but construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, Public Works Director Shashi Kumar said.
