Missouri City’s Parks and Facility Maintenance Building will see a revamp beginning this year.

The overview

At an Aug. 19 meeting, Missouri City City Council approved a $6.3 million demolition and construction contract with E. Contractors for its new Parks and Facility Maintenance Building, located across from City Hall.

Missouri City Engineer Marcus Snell said the new 22,000-square-foot building will replace the current facility at the same location and will include:
  • An administration area
  • A four-bay garage with storage space
  • Landscaping and irrigation
Additionally, the facility will have built-in shell space on the second floor for build out in the future, Snell said.

What they’re saying

“This has been a long time coming with this particular rebuild [and] redevelopment,” council member Monica Riley said. “I want to say thank you for going outside the box to find a way to keep staff still in the area and to be able to operate in some greater conditions.”

Looking ahead

Demolition could begin as early as mid-September, and construction is expected to take approximately one year to complete, Snell said.

Community Impact reached out to the city of Missouri City to learn more about the project's funding source but the information was not returned by press time.
