Sugar Land City Council approved at a May 17 City Council meeting the exchange of 0.87 acres between the city of Sugar Land and Fort Bend ISD. The land received by the district will be used to develop outdoor athletic facilities, such as a track, for Sugar Land Middle School.

The land will be coming from City Park, a city-owned park adjacent to the middle school. In return, the city granted 0.87 acres of city-owned property to Colony Bend Elementary School, which was already utilizing a portion of the granted land for a soccer field. The motion was approved unanimously in the meeting's consent agenda.
