The city will also host a special election for the City Council District B seat after council member Boney filed his run for mayor July 25, vacating his unexpired term on council, Community Impact reported. The winner will serve the remaining time in the unexpired terms through November 2027.
Two candidates—James Davidson and Sharita L. Thompson—have filed for the position since its opening Aug. 5, although the filing deadline for the special election is Sept. 3 at 5 p.m., according to the city’s website.

Another note
Fort Bend County commissioners did not move forward with calling an election to create a county assistance district in the some parts of the Sienna area within its extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ.
The proposed district would have collected 2% of sales tax to fund infrastructure improvements, public safety and economic development in the area, county officials previously said.
Going forward
The election will take place Nov. 4 with early voting running from Oct. 20-31, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 6.
