What else?

Fort Bend County commissioners may also call a special election for some Missouri City residents aimed at creating a county assistance district within the extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ, near the Sienna area.

The primary role of the county assistance district would be to provide construction, maintenance and improvements to roads, bridges and drainage facilities, county officials previously said. Additional responsibilities would include public safety, health services and economic development.

If approved by voters, the projects would be funded by an additional 2% of sales tax—available only for district use—in addition to the state’s 6.25%, officials said.

Looking ahead

The election will take place Nov. 4 with early voting running from Oct. 20-31, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
