Incumbent Troy Nehls has won the Republican primary election for U.S. House of Representatives District 22, according to unofficial election results from Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Harris counties.

As of 9:50 a.m., the results come as 76 of 76 Fort Bend County, 36 of 36 Brazoria County, and 375 of 375 Harris County polling locations have reported in. Congressional District 22 is comprised mostly of Fort Bend County and Brazoria County; Harris County voters represent just 2% of the district, according to the Texas secretary of state's website.

Nehls received 44,850 votes, or 89.35% of the votes, with 5,348, or 10.65%, of the votes supporting Gregory Jonathan Thorne. The candidate running in the Democratic primary, Jamie Kaye Jordan, ran unopposed.


"Thank you to the people of TX-22 for your overwhelming support in yesterday’s primary election," Nehls said in a statement to Community Impact Newspaper. "I look forward to continuing the good work for our district as we look towards November’s election. As long as I am your representative, I will fight everyday to protect your freedoms, push back against the left’s radical agenda, and be a strong voice for you in Congress.”

Results are updated as of 9:50 a.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk.

Nehls has received 37,098 votes, with 4,185, or 10.14%, of the votes supporting Gregory Jonathan Thorne. The candidate running in the Democratic primary, Jamie Kaye Jordan, is running unopposed.

Meanwhile, Harris County election officials will not be able to count and report all results for early and election day votes by the statutory deadline of 7 p.m. on March 2, the Texas secretary of state's office reported March 1.

The district includes the majority of Fort Bend County as well as the majority of Brazoria County. Harris County voters represent 2% of the district, according to the Texas secretary of state's website. Results are updated as of 10:40 p.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk.

Nehls has received 28,216 votes, with 2,977, or 9.54%, of the votes supporting Gregory Jonathan Thorne. The candidate running in the Democratic primary, Jamie Kaye Jordan, is running unopposed.
