1. Sugar Land approves $3.85M to design new police building, renovate existing one
Project: The Sugar Land Police Department will see building improvements following the November 2024 voter-approved bond.
Update: At an Aug. 19 meeting, Sugar Land City Council unanimously approved a $3.85 million contract with PGAL Inc., an architecture firm, to design a new police department building and renovate the existing one.
Once design is complete, the new police department building will cost about $63 million to build.

- Timeline: Design is expected to take 12-14 months, while construction is anticipated to take 18-20 months.

Project: The development, called Lake Pointe Green, will focus on residential with optional space for commercial use, said officials with Houston-based developer Lovett Commercial.
Update: The former Fluor Corp. campus could be redeveloped as soon as 2034, as Sugar Land City Council approved a concept plan for the site at the May 13 meeting.

- Timeline: Lovett officials expect to begin the phased project in 2025, with first housing deliveries in 2028 and completion in 2034

Project: Missouri City officials are considering bringing electric vehicle charging stations to City Hall.
Update: At an Oct. 20 meeting, Missouri City City Council voted to recommend the construction of charging stations in front of City Hall.
- Location: 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City
- Timeline: The item will return to council for approval, although a date has not yet been set.
- Funding source: The program would come at no cost to the city, while receiving $215 monthly per EV space from OnPoint with a 3.5% increase per year. OnPoint would also pay the city a 10% utilization bonus for each charging station if metrics are met.
Project: Missouri City officials will add a roundabout at Knight Road and Watts Plantation in an effort to reduce traffic speed within the city.
Update: At a Nov. 3 meeting, Missouri City City Council unanimously accepted up to $2 million in funding from the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County for the Knight Road roundabout. The funding for the roundabout was authorized by METRO on Oct. 23.

- Timeline: Although no timeframe has been set yet, the city is required to begin design within 90 days of approval.

Project: The city of Sugar Land will move forward with Char House preservation efforts following the city’s acquisition of the 40-acre district earlier in June.
Update: At a Nov. 18 meeting, Sugar Land City Council unanimously approved a $496,000 agreement with Houston-based Urbano Architects to begin design on preservation of the Char House’s exterior, including roof, window and structural repairs to halt further deterioration.
- Location: 192 Kempner St., Sugar Land
- Timeline: City staff expect to have the final visioning document available to the public by early 2026 and will choose a master developer in spring 2026. Preservation design services will begin immediately and are anticipated to take about four months. Following design, preservation work is expected to start in April 2026 and take 18 to 24 months.

Project: Additional funds are set to support the over $15 million improvements coming to Missouri City’s Quail Valley Golf Club, which operates the La Quinta and El Dorado golf courses.
Update: At a Nov. 17 meeting, Missouri City City Council unanimously approved a new contract and change order totaling $636,446 with Greenscapes Six LLC for additional La Quinta Golf Course improvements.
The new contract and changes build upon a $5.63 million contract approved in December 2024 to enhance course amenities, improve infrastructure, preserve city property and address drainage needs.
