At the Jan. 29 meeting, the board of trustees approved the calendar, which was recommended by district officials after hearing feedback from parent, student and staff focus groups.
The approved calendar will start Aug. 12 and end May 28, 2026. The 2025-26 version has variations from the 2024-25 school year, when the district had a slightly earlier start date of Aug. 8, 2024 and it observed a number of student and teacher holidays in October in place of a fall break.
The details
The 2025-26 calendar will include one week off for fall—from Oct. 13-17—Thanksgiving and spring break, as well as two weeks for a winter break, according to a Jan. 30 district news release. The calendar meets minimum requirements of 75,600 operational minutes and 840 minutes for inclement weather or health and safety issues.
The 2025-26 calendar will also include 26 full weeks compared to 22 full weeks in the current school calendar, as the district has chosen to only observe holidays tied to a weekend and to consolidate certain October holidays into a fall break, according to the release.
Another thing
Additionally, teachers will receive one planning day prior to the start of every nine-week grading period, district officials announced at the Jan. 13 agenda review board workshop.
