On May 7, Fort Bend ISD will hold a local election for board of trustees Positions 3 and 7. Early voting begins April 25 and ends May 3.

The board, which is responsible for selecting and employing the superintendent, is also tasked with studying, evaluating and deliberating the policy issues of FBISD.

In accordance with the Texas Elections Code, FBISD calls board elections for the first Saturday in May of each year, according to the district website.

The board is made up of seven local citizens who serve without compensation.

According to the district website, board trustees are elected to three-year terms on a rotating basis. Two are elected each year, one from each side of the district.


The incumbent for Position 3, Jim Rice, will be running for his position May 7. Rice serves as the board’s vice president. The incumbent for Position 7, Dave Rosenthal, will not be rerunning for his position. Rosenthal serves as the board president.
