Truboy BBQ, a Houston-based halal barbecue company, is opening its first brick-and-mortar location in Missouri City.

The 2,300-square-foot location will offer indoor and outdoor seating for up to 50 people as well as a grab-and-go market, according to an Oct. 2 news release.

“With this opening, we’re showing that Texas barbecue can be both authentic and inclusive,” owner Jereis Khawaja said. “Our mission has always been to make Texas barbecue accessible to everyone. This storefront allows us to deepen our connection with the community, uplift local makers and continue redefining what barbecue means in Texas for years to come.”

On the menu

The storefront will offer customizable meals with a choice of sliced brisket, chopped brisket or pulled chicken in various forms, including:
  • Sandwich on an egg twist bun with pickles and Truboy sauce
  • Melts with layered with a cheese blend and queso on toast
  • Burrito with mac and cheese, pickles, salsa and a crunch wrapped in a tortilla
  • Paratha wrap with cabbage, onions and chutney
  • Bowl with mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, cabbage, onions, salsa, queso and chutney
Meanwhile, the grab-and-go market will feature frozen and heat-and-eat meals, including brisket eggrolls, beef ribs and sausage, per the release.


About the company

The company started as Khawaja packaging ready-to-eat barbecue for Denver Broncos tailgates. The business model has grown to offer wholesale shipping to over 70 local restaurants across the United States and Canada, per the release.

A grand opening for the Missouri City location will be Oct. 9 with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. with the Missouri City Chamber of Commerce, followed by the doors opening to the public at 3 p.m.
