Houston-based smashburger concept BunSlut will soon open a new location in Missouri City.

The details

The late-night eatery—open until 4 a.m. at most locations—is known for its burgers made with halal beef, co-owner Brandon Gawthorp said. Gawthorp, who founded Katy-based chain Urban Bird Hot Chicken, acquired the BunSlut brand in December from founders Ali Nasser and Mohammad Jamshad.

On the menu

Burgers are prepared with cheese, grilled onions, pickles and the concept’s signature sauce, according to the website. Other menu items include:
  • Loaded fries
  • Patty melt sandwich
  • New slider combos presented on bright red buns
  • Various flavors of milkshakes, including Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Fruity Pebbles

The backstory

Founded in 2021 as a food truck, BunSlut now has five brick-and-mortar locations across the Houston area, plus a food truck in Cypress, Gawthorp said. The Missouri City eatery will be the sixth brick-and-mortar location.
