The background
Asif was responsible for redesigning the space, he said, painting the white walls of the restaurant a blush pink, installing flower walls and modern light fixtures modeled after businesses in Dubai. But not long after opening, both owners faced significant health issues that caused them to take a step back from the daily operations of the restaurant. Khan transferred his part ownership to Asif in the spring, Asif said.
“I’m not as active as I used to be [before] my surgery, so that’s impacted my presence here,” Asif said. “But my efforts and dedication is still the same. [And] thank God that the staff that I have [are] very supportive in my absence.”
On the menu
Despite the French name, L’Amour Du Cafe’s menu fuses Pakistani, Asian and American cuisine, Asif said.
Asif said the initial concept for L’Amour Du Cafe was a coffee and dessert shop, but he decided to shift the menu based on his customers' requests.Asif said he made these adjustments to create a familial atmosphere, where guests feel comfortable and valued.
“Our dishes are kosher and halal,” Asif said. “Our customers who eat halal want everything in one place.”
The most popular menu item is alfredo pasta, he said. But customers also love the burgers, pizzas and sandwiches. What’s next?
Asif is planning to expand the menu even further in early 2025, adding more Chinese dishes such as chicken and shrimp fried rice. He’s also considering adding fish and chips, just to keep customers happy.
“My main mission [is] they come as a guest to leave as a family,” Asif said. “I want them to come here and feel like they are in their home city, enjoying a meal. I want them to come here and leave very happy.”
