A new to-go restaurant has opened in Missouri City, offering Caribbean cuisine from Puerto Rico and Haiti.

Vicky's Island Hop opened this fall, owner and chef Victoria Montanez-Roberts said.

The take-out restaurant offers fusion Caribbean food highlighting Montanez-Roberts' Puerto Rican and Haitian heritage, she said.
Dishes include fresh takes on Jerk chicken, oxtails and Cuban sandwiches, Montanez-Roberts said.
On the menu
Vicky's Island Hop menu includes popular proteins from Caribbean countries as entrees, sandwiches, combination plates with various sides, small bites and dessert, according to the restaurant's website.

Signature items include a fried pork, or griyo, sandwich with plantains replacing the bread and topped with cilantro sauce and pikliz, a spicy Haitian slaw; as well as the Taste of Puerto Rico plate—which has yellow rice with beans, fried chicken chunks, slow roasted pork, mixed vegetable and sweet plantains.
