In November, Sugar Land delicatessen Bagel Express will have served the community for three decades.

Owner Barry Shapiro opened the New York-style bakery and delicatessen in November 1993 with the help of two other employees. It was the first shop to open in the First Colony Marketplace retail center, according to the business’s website.

Bagel Express keeps 20 types of bagels, seven cream cheeses, assorted muffins and pastries in stock, all made in-house.

In addition to bagel sandwiches, breakfast options at the deli include omelettes, French toast, and avocado toast. For lunch, Bagel Express offers sandwiches, wraps, salads and platters.

The owners plan to celebrate with a monthlong promotion. Customers can get updates on how Bagel Express will commemorate its 30 years in Sugar Land by visiting the bakery’s website, Instagram or Facebook.
