Fort Bend County reported 81 new cases of the coronavirus June 4—the highest number of cases reported in a single day since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Fort Bend County Judge KP George’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the number of new cases.

The 81 new cases brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Fort Bend County to 2,032. Of this, there are 1,250 active cases, 735 recoveries and 47 deaths.

Nineteen people in Fort Bend County are hospitalized with the coronavirus.

As of June 4, Missouri City has 300 coronavirus cases in the Fort Bend County portion of the city, up four from June 3. The Harris County portion of Missouri City has 21 cases, including one new case June 4.


There are 196 cases in Sugar Land, six more than the number reported June 3.



At the ZIP code level, Missouri City ZIP codes 77459 and 77489 saw one and four new cases, respectively. There are now nearly four cases of the coronavirus per every 1,000 residents in ZIP code 77489.

Sugar Land ZIP code 77498 saw six new cases, and both 77479 and 77478 had three new cases.

ZIP code boundaries and city limits do not coincide, which is why case counts can vary between what is reported at the jurisdiction and ZIP code levels.
