Over the weekend, Fort Bend County continued to report new cases of the coronavirus each day.

According to data released April 27, there are 957 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Fort Bend County, including 815 active cases, 120 recoveries and 22 deaths. Data shows that 11% of the active cases, or 72 people with the coronavirus, are reported to be hospitalized.

The case count in the city of Sugar Land now stands at 110, up from 99 on April 24, according to county data. The Fort Bend County portion of Missouri City has 142 confirmed cases of the virus.



Fort Bend County ZIP codes with the highest number of cases are shown on the graph below. ZIP code boundaries do not coincide with city boundaries, and as such, these case numbers include cases in unincorporated portions of the county.




On April 27, the county announced the opening of a second public coronavirus testing location in Sugar Land along with several other coronavirus-related updates. To date, the county reports 2,485 tests have been performed at the county-run testing site in Rosenberg.


Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced at a April 27 press conference that retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters and malls across the state will be able to reopen at limited capacity starting May 1.

Statewide, Texas is reporting 25,297 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, according to the state’s Department of Health and Human Services.
