Automotive enthusiasts will soon have a new option to store and maintain their vehicles in Sugar Land.

What residents need to know

Weekend Drive Garage, a luxury car condominium community, is set to open its first garages this summer at 1149 Hagerson Road, Sugar Land, owner John McCarthy said.

The community allows residents to purchase climate-controlled garages in the secure condominium owners association, he said. Community access is granted 24/7 for garage owners, who will pay Fort Bend County taxes and condominium owners association fees.

The details

The business will feature 53 garage condominiums of varying depths—between 35 and 50 feet deep by 26 feet wide—at a cost of approximately $200 per square foot, McCarthy said.

McCarthy said each garage will come with:
  • Electric service with individualized meters
  • Air conditioning unit
  • Light and electrical sockets
  • Plumbing
  • Deep mezzanine and high ceilings
Additionally, the community will offer a clubhouse complete with seating, kitchen, television, meeting table and bathroom, McCarthy said. Community members will also be able to participate in events such as car shows.

The backstory

The idea from the business came when McCarthy said he was looking to find his own garage in the area for his auto collection. He stumbled upon garage condominiums in north Houston, but he was looking for something closer to home, which inspired him to build in Sugar Land.

Going forward

The first 12 garages are set to open by the end of the summer, followed by the completion of its first phase by the end of the year, McCarthy said.

Additional garages will be added in a second phase.
