Mercy Emergency Room, a family-owned emergency care facility, opened in Sugar Land late last year.

The gist

Co-owner Dr. Bamidele Adeyemo said he and his staff focus on providing patients with personalized and timely care. Mercy Emergency Room offers short wait times, with most patients being seen within one to two minutes, which can be uncommon at some other ERs, he said.

“We noticed that even with insurance, you don’t really have access to your providers,” he said. “So we’ve removed the barriers between the people and their providers.”

The details

Adeyemo said the 24/7 facility, which accepts all insurance levels, offers comprehensive services such as:
  • Treatment for injuries, illnesses and conditions
  • Trauma care
  • Advanced imaging
  • On-site laboratory
  • Workforce injuries
Additionally, Adeyemo also offers more specialized programs to the community, including sports physicals for children, blood pressure management, detoxes, iron infusions for anemic or postpartum patients, and support for mothers.

About the owners

Mercy Emergency Room is run by Adeyemo and his wife, Toke Adeyemo, who is a nurse. Prior to opening the facility, Adeyemo was trained in emergency and internal medicine and studied at Harvard Medical School.

Zooming in

The facility is designed to feel like patients are in someone’s living room, Adeyemo said, which reflects his and his wife’s focus on providing patients with “concierge-level service.”

“I think that people forgot to be compassionate [after the COVID-19 pandemic],” he said. “So our goal is to be a positive light to our community and to help out in that way.”
