The Kohrville Community Association is working to build a new $200,000 community center to be located at 16817 Hufsmith-Kohrville Road, Houston. The Kohrville Community Center would house the association as well as space for the community and a historical artifact exhibit.

A timeline has not yet been established for the project as the Kohrville Community Association is still looking for financial sponsors, but land for the project was acquired in 2022, President Joanne Green said. The association’s meetings, fundraisers and programs are currently held at Windwood Presbyterian Church.

The Kohrville Community Association is a nonprofit organization that was originally founded in 2007 to preserve the grave sites at Amos Cemetery—a formerly segregated cemetery—as previously reported by Community Impact. Community programs, student scholarships and the preservation of local Black history are other priorities of the organization. 281-450-1946 or 713-517-2284. www.kohrvillecommunityassociation.com
