At the end of October, the Kailee Mills Foundation is honoring its five-year anniversary. The nonprofit foundation was created by David and Wendy Mills after they lost their daughter, Kailee, in a car crash Oct. 28, 2017.

“In our heavy grief, Wendy and I made a decision to make a difference and talk about seat belt safety so that we could prevent other families from losing their loved ones,” David said in an email statement.

The foundation has dedicated the last five years to providing education and spreading awareness about the importance of wearing a seat belt at all times while in a vehicle. Traffic fatalities in Texas have reached a 16-year-high, according to Brooke Baugh, a senior consultant for PR firm Wolford Group. On Nov. 14, The Kailee Mills Foundation will honor National Seat Belt Day.

Hosting community events throughout the year, the foundation raises money for seat belt education and provides scholarships for students who help spread safety awareness. The Kailee Mills Foundation’s office is at 25003 Pitkin Road, Ste. C100, Spring. www.kaileemillsfoundation.org
