Leonard Castleberry, Lisa Mackey and Stephanie Gray were recently named new principals of Nitsch Elementary School, Northampton Elementary School and Strack Intermediate School, respectively.

“Congratulations to these three outstanding leaders in our Klein family,” Superintendent Jenny McGown said June 9. “We are very excited about what's ahead for students and the communities that you serve.”

Meet the principals

Castleberry, a former Nitsch Elementary student, most recently served as the dean of instruction at the school, Chief of Human Resource Services Bob Anderson said June 9. Nitsche Elementary’s previous principal was Frank Ward, who will be leading Klenk Elementary in the upcoming school year, according to a May 20 letter posted on the school’s website.

“Thank you is my main point,” Castleberry said. “Thank you, [McGown] and to the board for the opportunity to serve the community that I grew up in. ... I'm genuinely excited.”

Mackey was the assistant principal at Northampton before being promoted to principal, Anderson said. Lisa Campbell served in the principal position before Mackey, according to Northampton’s website.

“I am so excited to lead our community and to continue the great things happening at Northampton,” Mackey said.

Before being named as Strack Intermediate’s principal, Gray was assistant principal at Schindewolf Intermediate School, Anderson said. Gray is replacing Robert Gilbert, according to Strack’s website.

“I cannot be more thrilled to be leading Strack,” Gray said.
