Lone Star College-University Park awarded 1,010 diplomas to graduates on May 13, marking the largest graduating class in the college's history, according to a May 16 news release.

Among the graduates were individuals receiving their associate degree as well as students receiving their associate degree and their high school diploma simultaneously, according to a May 16 news release.

“While we were physically apart for a long time, I assure you that our Lion Heart, UP pride, remained as strong as ever, which resulted in graduating our highest number of students in our 10-year history as a college,” said Shah Ardalan, founding president of LSC-University Park, in a statement.

More than 2,000 people attended LSC-UP’s May 13 graduation ceremony, which was held in Cypress.

The Lone Star College System as a whole this semester graduated nearly 9,500 students who received either a degree or certificate, which was another record for the college system. On average, LSCS has more than 93,000 students enrolled each semester across its eight colleges, according to the news release.
