Demolition of the former Raveneaux Country Club’s remaining facilities will begin May 9, the Harris County Flood Control District announced the same day.

Via a construction advisory statement, the HCFCD stated a contractor will begin tearing down Raveneaux’s swimming pool, tennis courts and parking lot. The process is expected to be finished in 35-40 days, depending on weather conditions.

In January 2020, the HCFCD purchased a total of 27.6 acres of land, including the Raveneaux property, as part of an $11.4 million deal with the hopes of constructing a regional stormwater detention basin on the site. However, negotiations with the Cypress Forest Public Utility District, which owns 206 acres of adjoining land, including Raveneaux’s golf course, stalled in December.

Officials did not provide an update on the status of the HCFCD’s negotiations with CFPUD on May 9.

HCFCD asks community members to stay away from the demolition project at Raveneaux, which is located at 9415 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, for their own safety. For additional updates from the HCFCD on this project, click here.
