Showcase Gymnastics has expanded to Spring after acquiring Basel's All-Star Gymnastics in January, following the retirement of owner John Basel.

The gym trained approximately 30,000 children over the years and produced state, regional and national champions, Basel said in an email. Additionally, it had been nominated three times for Small Business of the Year by the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce.

What's changing?

When looking for a buyer, Basel said he wanted to make sure the gym kept its small-town family culture, so he turned to long-time friends Chris and Cheryl Cupples, who already owned two Showcase Gymnastics locations in Katy.

The new owners have continued all the same programs with plans to expand its services.

What they offer

Cheryl Cupples said Showcase Gymnastics Spring will offer the following:
  • Girls team
  • Boys team
  • Xcel
  • TNT recreational classes
  • Tumbling
  • Preschool classes
The gym plans to expand its offerings by adding competitive acrobatics and tumbling, team gymnastics and performance classes in the future. Cheryl Cupples said Showcase Gymnastics is also bringing its Special Olympics programming to the Spring area.

About the owners

Cheryl Cupples said Showcase Gymnastics is a 100% family-owned and operated Christian-based business. The gym uses positive training methods and provides opportunities for all athletes to compete and participate in gymnastics.
