Through May 31, Manvel residents can offer input on what they’d like city officials to focus on as they decide how to pursue development within the city's first strategic plan.

The gist

The survey is the third portion of the city’s efforts to gather community feedback to advise its future strategic planning and its ongoing Future Manvel initiative. Previous efforts included hosting focus groups and a public forum in April, according to a May 1 city news release.

Future Manvel is focused on updating the city’s comprehensive plan and thoroughfare plan as well as crafting its first strategic plan. These plans are roadmaps that outline the city’s goals, priorities and strategies for addressing key challenges and opportunities, according to the release.

Community Impact previously reported the city had seen a 137.7% population growth in the past decade. In 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey data showed a population of 11,432 in 2020 versus 4,810 in 2010.

What else?

Residents can take the 10-minute, 23-question survey available online here. To maintain the integrity of responses, only one submission per device is permitted, according to the release.

What’s next?

Community Impact previously reported that following the survey, the city will initiate the Future Manvel phase of the plan, which will run from June to December. For that, the city will host open houses on the draft plans before they move forward to formal public hearings in early 2025.
