The construction of Green Tee Bridge in Pearland will begin in January—once the city can remove a conflicting utility line from the area.

The gist

Green Tee Bridge will replace the existing Country Club Drive bridge, which is aging and functionally obsolete, said Danny Perez, Texas Department of Transportation public information officer. The plan will improve driver safety.

While TxDOT will be responsible for the bridge’s construction, the project’s $2.5 million cost will be a split of federal, state and local funds, according to the city of Pearland’s website.

The scope of work for the bridge replacement includes:
  • Demolition of the existing bridge
  • Constructing new bridge structure
  • Removing existing pipes attached to the existing bridge structure
TxDOT officials estimate the project will take one year from its start date to complete, Perez said.

One more thing

A temporary traffic signal will be placed at the intersection of Scarsdale Boulevard and Bogey Way, which will serve as an alternate route during construction, Perez said.
