Following his victory for Position 4 of Pearland City Council, Clint Byrom said in an email May 5 he is "humbled and honored" to be selected by the citizens of Pearland.

"I am ready to go to work for our community and I am grateful to be entrusted to do so," he said in the email.

As of the most recent updates from May 4, Byrom has received 2,030 votes, or 53.56% of the vote total, to Veronica Kreuder Longoria's 1,760 votes, or 46.44%, unofficial election results from Brazoria County show.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.


Update at 11 p.m. May 4

With all 32 polling places reporting in Brazoria County, Clint Byrom has won his race against Veronica Kreuder Longoria, with 2,030 votes, or 53.56% of the vote, to Longoria's 1,760 votes, or 46.44% of the vote total, unofficial election results show.

Byrom could not be reached immediately for comment following the latest results May 4.

Results will not be official until canvassed at a later date.

As of 7 p.m., polls are now closing across Texas, and results are starting to roll in for local elections all across the state.

Pearland City Council has one competitive race on the ballot, with two candidates running for Position 4. With the first batch of unofficial results rolling in, here’s where things sit.

As of 7:15 p.m., Clint Byrom is leading Veronica Kreuder Longoria with 1,367 votes, or 54.01% of the vote total, to 1,164 votes, or 45.99% of the vote total, unofficial election results from Brazoria County show.

Byrom wants to improve the city’s infrastructure and look for growth while still maintaining small-town values. Longoria said the budget would be her main priority, as she wants to get the city back to being “fiscally conservative.” She also wants to focus on traffic.

Pearland had two seats on the ballot this year, with the other, Position 2, only seeing the incumbent, Tony Carbone, file, according to the city’s website.

Meanwhile, current incumbent for Position 4, Adrian Hernandez, did not run for re-election. He is running in November’s general election to be the commissioner of Brazoria Drainage District 4.
