PISD Superintendent Larry Berger said the bond package will help upgrade the district without increasing the tax rate, which is currently $1.1373 per $100 valuation, according to district documents.

“We have to take care of the buildings and infrastructure that we have,” Berger said. “We have the capacity to pay for those bonds without increasing the tax.”
