Pearland ISD’s board of trustees approved over a dozen additional positions at its April 8 meeting, including teachers, instructional coaches, curriculum and instruction specialists, and special program aides.

The overview

According to district agenda documents, officials recommended adding the following positions for the 2025-26 school year:
  • $633,008: eight classroom teachers and a part-time classroom teacher based on staff projections
  • $152,258: two Title I instructional coaches
  • $76,129: one instructional coach
  • $98,171: one curriculum and instruction specialist, who will focus on students receiving special education services
  • $31,329: one special programs aide

While the total cost will be nearly $991,000, the district is saving over $173,000 by eliminating two jobs, including a math teaching and an educational technology specialist position, bringing the total budgetary impact to around $817,700, according to district agenda documents.
