Alvin ISD is preparing for the opening of its fourth high school in the 2022-23 school year.
The AISD board of trustees at its Feb. 8 meeting designated $5.05 million to be set aside to allow the district to pursue initial staffing positions for Iowa Colony High School.
The funds are for general teaching positions at Iowa Colony High School, AISD Director of Communications Renae Rives said, which will allow the district to plan for its hiring process that is needed to open the new campus in August, according to agenda documents.
“What they do is they go ahead and approve it so that money is set aside for when it is supposed to be [used]. ... It is an attempt to start hiring for the positions that are needed,” Rives said.
