After a brief drop in COVID-19 cases, Brazoria County reported 329 new cases Jan. 21. Since then, cases in the county have started to slowly decline. On Feb. 1, the county reported 226 new, active COVID-19 cases.

Pearland has 1,375 active cases as of Feb. 1. The county has 3,653 active cases total, which is down from the count of 4,425 cases the county reported two weeks ago. The majority of the active cases are in the 30-39 age bracket.

The number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients in general-use beds in Brazoria County reported on Feb. 1 is 63, over double the number of COVID-19 patients reported Dec. 1, according to data from the SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council, or SETRAC. COVID-19 patients took up 27.2% of the general beds in use Feb. 1. The county has 425 operational general-use beds and a surge capacity of 510 beds.

The number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds spiked Jan. 30 but has otherwise been consistent with numbers reported in December and January, according to SETRAC data. COVID-19 patients took up 35% of the ICU beds in use Feb. 1. The county has 40 operational ICU beds and a surge capacity of 49 beds.
