Why are you choosing to run for Brazoria County Precinct 2 commissioner?

We’ve been through so much as a county, and by working hand in hand with citizens during the recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey, pandemics and freezes, you realize how important 'community' really is. I believe that 'to whom much is given, much is required,' and this county has given so much to me. That’s why I am committed to ensuring it remains the best county to live [in] and raise a family.

If you are elected, what are your top priorities?

There are two quality-of-life factors that come up again and again as priorities with constituents: safety and taxes. Our office is committed to supporting our law enforcement and making sure they have the resources they need. Despite recent challenges, Commissioners Court has lowered the county tax rate each of the seven years I have been in office, and we are committed to doing the same in our next term.

What do you feel is the biggest issue facing Brazoria County Precinct 2?

Growth is coming and needs to be managed wisely. We must make sure that safety, taxes, drainage and transportation do not become problems. Look at our neighboring counties. Some have managed the growth better than others. Some were proactive in making sure essential services were sufficient for the current citizens first and that the capacity to expand was there before growth became too rapid, and we need to learn from those and manage our growth wisely.

Anything else you want potential constituents to know?

In summary, I would say again that I have a record of showing up and being available when the people of Precinct 2 need their commissioner. If you talk to the county employees and community leaders that we talk to every day, they will tell you that our office has been and will continue to be committed to their needs each and every day.

Why are you choosing to run for Brazoria County Precinct 2 commissioner?

I’m running for Brazoria County commissioner in order to give our community the representation and leadership they deserve. For too long, we have had a commissioner that has been out of touch with the people and needs of our county. During my three years on Manvel City Council, I’ve shown I am passionate about getting out in the community to hear from our residents and tackle the biggest problems facing Brazoria County.

If you are elected, what are your top priorities?

My top priorities are simple but important to the future of our county. First, I want to introduce new, proactive leadership to the county government. Second, I am committed to cutting our out-of-control property taxes, not just the tax rate, to help our hardworking families. Third, I will implement policies that will increase transparency and accountability. And finally, I will support our police officers, firefighters and [Emergency Medical Services, or EMS] professionals in keeping our community safe.

What do you feel is the biggest issue facing Brazoria County Precinct 2?

The biggest and most pressing issue facing residents of Brazoria County is out-of-control property taxes. The current leadership had the opportunity to provide actual tax relief by lowering our taxes, and he refused. I’m committed to providing meaningful tax relief by lowering our taxes and lowering the tax rate. This will help families during this difficult time and ensure that our neighbors aren't forced to sell their homes because they can’t afford to live here.

Anything else you want potential constituents to know?

I am a staunch, Christian conservative and a dedicated father and husband. Our family chose to put down roots here in Brazoria County because we believe this is the best community in Texas. This county is special, and we are proud to call it home. I am passionate about having the opportunity to serve you as your next full-time county commissioner in Precinct 2, and I humbly ask for your vote on March 1.
