A new coffee shop serving a variety of coffee, teas and food opened in Alvin in late March, the owner said.

Gabys Pastries & Coffee Shop, owned and operated by Gaby Moreno, held a grand opening event in March to celebrate its opening.

Moreno said business thus far has been strong. The shop, according to social media posts, started out at ManvelMarket each month and is now a brick and mortar location.

What's on the menu

Items on the menu include coffee, tea and various syrup options, as well as sandwiches, baked goods such as croissants, tres leches, carrot cake, banana bread and a bagel, among other items.

Moreno said the business's unique item is its Fat Boi Sandwich, which has many items on it, including hash browns, caramelized onions, bacon, ham, eggs and avocado, among other toppings. That is paired with bread that, in addition to the business's other products, is made in-house, she said.

"Everything is made in-house," Moreno said.

Quote of note

"Every business has its ups and downs, but it's been really good," Moreno said. "We've had really positive feedback from the community."
