Alvin ISD’s board of trustees approved appointments at its June 23 special meeting for a chief of staff and deputy superintendent of academics, as well as assistant principals for a handful of junior high schools.
The overview
Kimberly Simpson, who has over 15 years of leadership experience in public education, will serve as AISD’s new chief of staff. In this role, Simpson will “support organizational alignment, strategic initiatives, board support, stakeholder engagement and cross department collaboration,” Superintendent Rhonda Mason said at the meeting.
On the other hand, Kwabena Mensah, who has over 20 years of experience in public education, will serve as the district’s new deputy superintendent of academics. The primary focus of this role will be to improve academic outcomes for all AISD students, Mason said at the meeting.
