Alvin ISD’s board of trustees is scheduled to review a proposed amendment to the 2025-26 budget during its Jan. 13 meeting.

The amendment outlines a plan to allocate additional funding toward several high-priority needs that were not included in the initial budget, as well as a small number of unplanned expenditures, according to district documents.

The details

The proposed amendment would allocate additional funding for:
  • Campus libraries
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning projects
  • Police equipment and storage
  • Turf replacement
  • Band uniforms
  • Cafeteria improvements
  • Security camera and other technology replacements
If approved, the amendment would allocate $5,846,271, with most of the funding directed toward maintenance and technology improvements across the district.

The background

During development of the 2025-26 budget, the district identified priorities aligned with district goals, student instruction, extracurricular programs and facility needs.

To adopt a balanced budget at the start of the school year, some priorities were deferred for possible consideration at a later date, according to district documents.
